My journey as an athlete
The goalie position undoubtedly piqued my interest from a very young age.
I started playing hockey with the Laval-Nord Minor Hockey Association as a player in the MAHG programs.
As soon as the opportunity arose to put on pads, I took that chance and never looked back.
From Pee-wee to Midget AAA, I played in the development structure of Hockey Laval-Montreal.
At the junior level, having been selected by the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in the QMJHL draft in June 2018, I started the following season with the Collège d'Alma Jeannois at the Collégial AAA Division 1 level of the RSEQ, while practicing weekly with the major junior team.
During the covid shutdown season, I took the opportunity to train at home and complete as many courses as possible from my curriculum in order to quickly finish my Cégep in three years.
I played my last season in 2021-2022 with the St-Jérôme Panthers at the Junior AAA level, during which I officially completed my DÉC.
I genuinely loved my hockey experience. I am convinced that it is the combination of my studies and my high-level sport that has led me to develop a rigorous work ethic, discipline, professionalism and a marked capacity for resilience.
These are ultimately the values that I try to pass on to my goalies.
My academic journey
Managing my studies and my high-level sport has always been a non-negotiable for me. Education is still to this day my priority.
I did my high school studies at Collège Laval until Secondary 4, before transferring schools during my season with the Laval-Montreal Rousseau-Royal at the Midget AAA level.
Having always had a keen interest in science, I chose to follow the Health and Life Sciences stream in high school (mathematics, chemistry and physics).
I pursued my studies in the same field throughout my Cégep years.
I am now a student at the University of Montreal faculty of Medicine, in Occupational Therapy. I incorporate the knowledge I have gained from my academic background and my sports experiences into all aspects of my coaching.
Discover the impact of Occupational Therapy on goalies by reading my introductory article on the subject : Occupational Therapy in the World of Sports : A Must for Optimizing Athletic Performance.
